Is it just me, or is the emergency alert sound weird as hell? Something about it has had me jumpy since I was a little kid.

I would think that being an unusual sound would be a great idea for an emergency alert. If you think about it, the emergency alert system is meant to grab peoples' attention so it makes sense that it should sound relatively unique and strange to capture the attention of as many people as possible.
