Check the individual club's dress code. A lot don't allow sneakers. It doesn't matter how well you pull them off, if the door guy says no, you're going to look like a fool while all your friends go in without you.

It's usually best to wear shoes to nicer clubs. Better to be over-dressed and assure you get in.
