So what's the medical prognosis on that sort of injury? Any medical experts on the forum?

Horriffic Snakebite Photo - BortimusPrime - 04-30-2013

Looks like they took all the necrotic tissue off, so I'd guess just slap a skin graft on it.

Holy shit.

Damn that is frightening. I was out fishing this past Sunday. While wading about two feet from the bank of the river I heard a splash near me. I look down thinking that maybe a trout was rising nearby. What I saw was a 2 foot copperhead looking me right in the eye. I booked it back onto land and waited for it to go elsewhere. I'm lucky it didn't decide to bite.

I read somewhere that he will be fine because what we are seeing is the necrosis tissue removed exposing the tendons and the insides. If properly treated (fighting the infection, keeping the area clean) the guy will likely only require plastic surgery and will be fine in a few months

Have you seen the one where the doctors saw off the dudes leg with a piece of wire because everything from the knee to the ankle has been eaten away?

No, but I don't know if I want to.

^^Is that the Russian version of meth? Must be cheap and easy to make if everyone's using it instead of heroin.

Horriffic Snakebite Photo - WesternCancer - 05-01-2013

Pretty much (more like heroin), but its cheap and easy to make from over the counter stuff. Super impure and the average lifespan for a user is 2-3 years.

It wouldn't be that hard considering its junkies making it over in Russia. Someone with organic chemistry lab experience like myself could make MILLIONS

Seen it. Got a chance to do it. Oddly satisfying.

As for the article: I'm not familiar with American snake bite treatment but it looks like the patient fell into the hands of an overeager hot-shot surgeon, because it's going to need one heck of a graft. Otherwise he should be fine. I've seen worse.

Im fine with these gory kinds of images and videos but there are some things I cant watch like injections and extracting blood from someone. Whenever something like that is shown I have to turn away because looking at it happen makes me very uncomfortable almost sick. Im not sure why this is because I am certainly not squeamish.

Horriffic Snakebite Photo - brk9912 - 05-01-2013

Damn. This is why I don't like warmer climates, snakes on the plan... in the grass and small crevices.

Dilemma, I want to see it but I need to log onto my account, but I don't want it in my search/viewing history.
