I'm sorry, I don't know LA well, but this thread may do better in the travel section, if you can move it as the OP.

Go on couchsurfing and find speakeasys profile and go stay on his couch. Don't tell him you're a forum member and take him out for drinks. Approach like mad!

Air bnb has some good listings. I used to even list my old place on there.

Stay in Santa Monica or West Hollywood.

If you're going to go out, read one of the many Los Angles threads. Look up the bars you wanna hit up, and book your place accordingly.

Don't stay in Koreatown. I stayed here and all I saw were old Asian bag ladies.

stay by the hermosa beach pier. there are some hotels that's $99 a night or less and there are a lot of bars there at night and you'll be by the beach during the day. the girls are pretty young, slutty but its kind of a bro-fest. use that you're in town for coachella. there is a hostel there too i think...but i'd rather get a room personally.

but its less work than hollywood in which you'll have to figure out where to go out at night and see if you can get in or not.
