Working as a scallop diver? - evilhei - 03-04-2013

Does anybody have any experience working as a scallop diver? I remember talking to a guy at a party some time ago and he said that he quit his office job, got training in UK and now works as a scallop diver in Norway. If I remember correctly he said his making about 1000 euros a day and only works 6 months per year.

I googled it and there are companies that offer scallop diving courses in UK/USA.

Anybody has any experience on this? Is it hard to get work after completing the course? Is the work very hard? I guess the climate for example in Norway is quite harsh but it kind of seems worth it.
