I thought this was a parody at first. But nope, it's real

Back in 2003, Sex and the City identified a cruel reality about single life: There's no single-person's equivalent of a wedding—a time when people travel from afar to bring you gifts and toast your life decisions.

Carrie Bradshaw said, "If you are single after graduation, there isn't one occasion when people celebrate you" besides birthdays, which we all enjoy.

Despite a proliferation of single adults, little has changed since that episode aired nearly a decade ago: trips are not planned when we're promoted at work, nor crystal glassware gifted when we buy our first homes. It seems that milestone celebrations are still reserved for couples and families.

Sex and the City reference- check
What about me mindset- check
Completely missing the point- check

When I approached 30 as a single woman, I decided to host a quinceañera-themed party in San Antonio, which I aptly titled "La Quinceañera Doble." My parents, not having subsidized a wedding, offered to cover some of the expenses, and friends flew in from around the country. Although I felt a tad silly for organizing a destination birthday, the upshot was that my parents and I covered nearly all of the costs (which were nominal compared to a wedding), and no one suffered the indignity of having to wear matching chiffon gowns.

Quinceañera for a 30 year ginger bitch- lamest idea ever? Yep, lamest idea ever. She's getting owned in the comments too.

I've gotta be frank: this whole article reads like it was written in the hungover aftermath of an all-night ice cream bender, complete with romcom movie marathon.

I bet you she was really cute at 18. And less of a bitch too.

How do I know she's a bitch?

One evening, I meet Caroline at her midtown office. We've agreed to spend the session reworking my Match.com profile, but I mention that I have a blind date following our meeting. I'm seeking advice and encouragement, but Caroline unleashes a blow when she asks me whether I plan to speak to my date the same way I talk to her.

I nod.

"You have this way of communicating that's...a little aggressive," she says. "It's very masculine energy."

Already frustrated by advice that seems antiquated, I am astonished when Caroline suggests that I talk to my date as though he were a seven-year old girl. I decide to stop working with her. I realized later that what I needed in that moment was a cheerleader, not a coach.

I'd smash it.

Problem with these silly women here is that they live for the wedding day, not the actual marriage. That's the way these articles read. They want a special ceremony where they will feel like a princess for a day and be showered with gifts and attention. It's all about them.

Other "milestone celebrations" she can have:

Cats birthdays

Latest sex toy purchase

"I've gained 20 lbs!"

Quarterly pump-n-dump day

1000th time she says "I don't need a man!"

Mimosa kegger

That said, I love gingers and would pound her without hesitation

I wonder how many cats she already has. [Image: catlady.gif]

Also, I'd smash. [Image: hump.gif]

Funny, funny shit.

You know if she wanted a wedding, she could go get married. I'm sure she could find some poor bastard. Maybe fake a pregnancy scare after one of you guys fucks her.

Just dawned on me, she looks like the real-life version of the anime character Lisa Hayes from Robotech.

Her eyes are way too close together for me to even consider any positive attributes she may have. 2/10 would not bang.

In her local community there are multiple organizations holding Cotillion Balls, Eastern Star Balls, Father-Daughter dances and many other annual society balls... but she instead has to fly a bunch of people out of town (because doing things in your local community is bad?) and make up her own redundant version while contributing nothing to her local society or culture.

She seems socially isolated.
