No surprise here: Reddit's NoFap Challenge survey. - germanico - 11-19-2012

This is hardly a suprise/slightly disturbing:

46% of 1509 responders to Reddits no masturbation challenge survey are virgins.

20% have had no sexual activity in the last 6 months.

Sounds more like the "Become a monk challenge"

So... Almost half the guys are virgins thinking that masturbation is harming their chances with women they don't have the game to get? [Image: lol.gif]

This survey pretty much discredits the entire nofap challenge bullshit, doesn't it?

It's superstition down to it's core, mostly started by guys who have terrible game looking for some kind of "magic fix" for their dating life.

As if something as simple as not masturbating could just solve all of their problems.

Sucks.

That said, I was a virgin until 22 and discovered that all those years of extensive fapping (both with porn and fantasies) had seriously harmed my ability to have sex - i.e. I couldn't feel anything, had erectile problems and etc. When I cut out the porn and reduced the fapping to 1-2/week (after 90 days of no fapping at all), everything was restored to normal. And I've had sex more or less constantly during this time and keep doing so now.

If they're virgins, I'd say that they should still cut down on fapping as an investment for once they're not, but of course they have much greater problems to worry about than that.

I think a lot of people use nofap to try and fix deeper issues. I'd say nofap can be helpful, but only if you're willing to fix the deeper issue. Most people are probably unaware of the deeper issues that effect them.

I'd say it is similar in a way to game: You can't just learn game and roll through Victoria's Secret models. At least, not if you're poor and homeless, ugly as fuck and don't have any sort of life experience to parlay into an interesting conversation.

Nofap can help with motivation, but it isn't going to get you out of the basement, give you charisma and fix all your problems in thirty days.

Imo ED is caused by sexual inexperience rather than excessive porn or fapping. Correlation doesn't equal causation.

Not at all. Why would inexperience cause ED? That doesn't make sense.

Eel the reason sex was shit for you wasn't because of fapping and porn it was because you were inexperienced and were not comfortable around vaginas yet. It got better because you got used to it. Most virgins have social anxiety problems and massive issues with rejection. If they get those things dealt with it's not going to matter one way or another if they fapp it.

No surprise here: Reddit's NoFap Challenge survey. - Handsome Creepy Eel - 11-20-2012

Your explanations are all fine, but the problem was too persistent and weird to be just stuffed under "inexperience". Of course, if I started fantasizing about something during those times that there were problems, it would be fine as long as I concentrated on that "porn fantasy" instead of actual sex. It's really fucked up, and I wish that it could be explained with just anxiety. It only went away after quitting porn forever and porn for some time, so I'm not going to go back and test.

That said, I do agree that some virgins might have the problem in the form that you described. But this didn't feel like it.

I don't have a strong opinion either way on this no-fap business. Just to be fair re the virgin thing though: A lot of the respondents may be very young guys still at High School who have, or believe they have, some sort of problem with internet pornography. We can debate all day long whether their problems are caused by porn and masturbation or not, but it seems that many do believe that they are. At least they are taking some sort of action they believe will improve their lives rather than just doing nothing.
