Yeah, Brasil too is basically the same 10 shitty american songs and some local music. They actually do have a pretty wide variety of Brazilian music. Here in the states where I'm at, the music always sucks. It's the same 10 shitty american songs they play in Brazil with a shitty DJ trying to remix them.

Brazil has a very rich musical culture with lots of different varieties that are nice to listen to, BUT they are not very danceable. It can be hard to find a good house club at times.

I went to bar/restuarant/lounge today at the beach that had 4 deep house DJs spinning all day. I was hoping to find something like that along the beach of Ipanema, but I didn't. Maybe I should move down there and open such a place.

"Cumbia is a Colombian musical style and folk dance that is considered to be representative of Colombia, along with Vallenato. Cumbia originated from the Caribbean coast of easter Colombia, with folkloric variants in Panama. Cumbia began as a courtship dance practiced among the slave population that was later mixed with European instruments and musical characteristics. It was also used during the Colombian struggle for independence as an expression of resistance against Spain, therefore, most of its songs' messages were related to freedom or slavery. Cumbia is very popular in the Andean region and the Southern Cone and was until the early 1980s more popular in these regions than the salsa."
Nowadays, I think people mostly just smoke to this music.

it's still king in the regions if Cucuta and Valledupar and Santander in general. salsa is hardly even played if at all.
So if Cumbia and Vallenato is what you want, Bucaramanga, Cucuta and Valldupar are the cities for you.
