Using Paypal Overseas? - Aliblahba - 07-21-2012

Both my paypal accounts have been suspended form logging in overseas. For you guys that travel, is there a way to go through a proxy to get around this?

I always told them when I was traveling and never had a problem. I suspect you will have to call them.

You will have to call them to have your accounts unlocked and I believe they will want to call you as a security measure. That might be a problem since you're probably working off of a DR number and not the number associated with your account.

You can try to use a free VPN service that offers a U.S. based server (there are a ton out there), however, in researching this option in the past people have said that if Paypal finds out you are doing this, they will suspend your account indefinitely.

In the future (I know this doesn't help right now since you're locked out of your accounts), look under the settings of your account for a feature called "travel plans" and fill it out to let them know where/when you will be traveling outside of the U.S. This option should prevent your account from being locked.

In Latin America they like flagging accounts, even if you tell them you'll be there.

I have an American IP to log in from strongvpn.com.

In Eastern Europe I haven't had any problems.

Never use Proxies with Paypal, Paypal can see its a proxy straight away, they will see it as suspicious behaviour and limit you pretty quickly.

VPN's can work, Strong VPN generally works fine, though personally I don't trust any VPN. I prefer VPS, a bit more expensive but never had any problems.

You can log into Paypal from a foreign IP address, but they dont like to see any peculiar behaviour such as a large withdrawal from a foreign IP when you have never logged in from overseas.

Also they will be less likely to limit you if you log in. From your own computer, as the EBay cookies are on your comp.

If you log in from another comp they are highly likely to ask you to confirm your bank account number etc.

I've had this happen all the time while traveling. Really annoying. I had to prove my identity over and over again.
