travel health insurance - DonovanVC - 06-25-2012

I am a US Citizen, planning to be abroad in Hong Kong for 3 months.

I have health insurance here in the States but it only covers emergency situations while abroad.

Does anyone have advice on a temporary health insurance plan or travelers insurance that will cover you while abroad for a few months?

I am looking for something that would cover a doctor's visit and/or prescription if I get the flu or food poisoning or a serious chest cold, etc - basically non-emergency situations that might merit a doctor's visit.

Thanks

anyway, looks like i found some useful info for any that are interested for extended trips.

insuremytrip.com (http://www.insuremytrip.com/) has a search system which lists different short-term insurers based on your state of residence and what you are looking for. useful site.

I am considering HTH Worldwide - they have premiums from $70-$165 for people in their late twenties, with fairly low deductibles (less than $250), and is even lower if you pay the higher end premium. many of these insurers cover non-emergency doctor visits too.
