^all the reason to love them more...looking past deformities [Image: smile.gif]

Just read "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery for the 3rd time in my life...first was in 5th grade, didn't understand it then. Second was last year while in grad school, appreciated it. Third time was last night, it became one of my loved books.

The traveling players here might be able to relate to (or appreciate) the allegory of a little prince's interplanetary travels searching for meaning. It's a very easy read, took me less than a day to finish in my later readings. A perfect example of "simple, yet deep."

In my opinion, it's not simply a children's book. Only competent teachers who know what they're doing should be teaching about this book, it's message will easily go over children's heads like it did over my 5th grade head.

Yep, that photo is not shopped. Here's the rest. I like her, she seems perfect:

Wtf? What is she doing with that? He ain't hitting that right! I'm sure the French are wondering the same exact thing. Wow. Props to him, but that doesn't make any sense at all!

What you're seeing is what women should be.

Wow. Tell me that's photoshopped. Well, if not why are you upset? Jealous? If that is in fact a real picture, I have nothing but props for that guy. Imagine looking like that and getting such a fine woman - I am telling you he must have wicked game. I find this intriguing.

Not at all. Interestingly, I believe that picture says more about her than about him. He is simply a reflection about what she thinks she is worth.

Lol. There is definitely a trend toward dating African and Arab guys in Fr. It's just in right now.

Damn! How the hell do you go about losing an arm in the metro??? Did he fall in?

"How was your day?"

"Oh, terrible. Lost an arm in the metro."

WTF?

The real question is, did he seduce her before or after his lost his arm in the metro?

In Defense of France - Alfonzo - 02-16-2012

If I remember , He had a kind of fight when he was young with another kid . The kid fell on the track, at the same time , the train passed, kill the kid and chop the arm of Jamel .

He seduced her after the accident , he was a child at that time .

Tragic story.

I think it's settled, the dude has got some serious game - he seduced her with a disfigured arm. Much respect.

Anyone else have pics of some French hotties to share? I think most would agree that is a better direction for this thread anyway.

In Defense of France - Vacancier Permanent - 02-16-2012

About the pic posted, Jamel is a LEGEND. That guy is one of the coolest, funniest mofos alive not only in France but in the entire world. And being from the banlieues, he has mad mad game and a super smooth talker. Coming from the background that he is, you must, it's a matter of life or death pretty much. I have nothing but mad respect for Jamel.

Aside from the historical reasons for animosity towards the French, I chalk it up to Americans being insecure. The reasons for hating Frenchmen seem to boil down to, 'OMG they're so elitist, they're so judgmental, they're so pretentious.' I've personally been accused of the same thing, so I can't help but feel the French and I might be kindred spirits... In America, if you have strong opinions about matters of taste and style, you're an 'elitist asshole.' From what it seems, in France you're merely French. Americans think not only that it's their god-given right to look like, eat and watch shit 24/7, but that you must never hold it against them either. If you do, you're a prick of the highest order. The French seem to think some things are better than others, and this deeply bothers Americans.

This was a good post.

I think a lot of this stuff comes down to perspective.

The funny thing about the word "pretentious" is I don't think I have ever used that word in my life. I certainly haven't used it to describe something in a negative way.

I hear people say, "Oh, I hate that club, the people are so 'pretentious".

And I think to my self, "I love that club".

So maybe that's another reason why I like Paris/France.

I hold this truth to be self-evident: some things are better than others.

One thing I've never really understood was this whole notion that French guys are whimps. France has had more wars than just about any other country. Lots of blood has been spilled there over the centuries.

I watched this ill documentary about Napoleon the other night. He was without a doubt one of the most alpha men in history. Unbelievably relentless ambition. The Pope actually crowned him as an emperor. This is a guy who was born on a random Mediterranean island (Corsica) and was made fun of as a kid when he moved to Paris and spoke French with an Italian accent, only to become an emperor. No one saw his rise coming. His empire spanned from Paris to Cairo to Moscow.

Actually, he took the crown from the pope and crowned himself even more alpha.

That story is mythical, but has been widely spread. They actually agreed to the crowning in advance and the Pope was there for the ceremony at Notre-Dame. I learned that on a tour of ND when I was in Paris.

2 things about napoleon, he was beat down by the English and he was not French. He also spent more time pissing around designing flashy uniforms then he did on tactics, he was a massively insecure beta whose girlfriend was getting fcuked by half the aristocracy.

Perfect example of why I cant take this alpha/beta stuff seriously anymore.

Napoleon, according to this PUA now, was a beta male.

I just got a second job. The place I work, I'd say a good 30% or more of the guests are from france at any given time since the owner is french. At this moment, I want to say at least 50% are French. Some are very nice, some very rude. The thing that cracks me up though is I hear they are total pricks if you can't speak great french while you're in France, but then they come over here and half of them can't speak english and even a lot of them think that everyone in the states speaks French. I can't believe it. They'll just come up speaking french to me and when I don't know it they look at me like I'm an idiot.

Haha. I gotta be more mindful of how I throw around that label as well. It doesn't apply neatly to most situations.

Napolean was a force of nature. Unparalleled ambition and strategy.

Apparently, though, he did demonstrate some forms of beta behavior in his relationship with his wife. I guess no man can fully represent the ideal. They say he was unsettled by his wife's lack of affection for him. She rarely replied to his many love letters he sent to her from the battlefield. He would get irate and give her ultimatums to try to encourage her to respond, but that never worked and he stayed with her.

Maybe they're expecting you to speak it because you work (I assume) in a French-owned, francophone-friendly, "ici on parle français" establishment??

When people say beta they mean omega. A good example of a beta is Karl Rove. Bush was alpha.

W. would be working at McDonalds if it weren't for his family connections. Nothing exudes alpha like saying "would you like fries with that?"

Karl Rove is the fat kid who never got a date and schemed to manipulate others while beating off in the dark.

Both of them go to Bohemian Grove, which is the gayest place on earth. Just ask Nixon:
