Dominican Republic - Technics - 10-09-2014

I'm going to DR in a week for a short trip. There is so much info on RVF, I don't even know where to start.

IP, will you be in DR by Oct 15?

Kava, where are you located these days?

I have what appears to be a solid pipeline with about 20 claiming to want to meet up, however I have no idea what kind of flake rate I can expect.

Dominican Republic - Dantes - 10-11-2014

Anyone have intel on the Jade Hotel in Santo Domingo in terms of location and being able to bring girls back?

Dominican Republic - InternationPlayboy - 10-11-2014

I'll be in SD from nov 6 to dec 3

Dominican Republic - Yeti - 10-11-2014

Technics, those are good numbers but you're likely only to get anywhere (actual meetup) with those to whom you've made a real connection. It doesn't have to be much, just a few shared interests or some conversations or what have you. Anything less and she'll fade away and forget about you, and won't be around to hang out. A few solid leads is all you want anyway as going on 20 dates would be damn exhausting man.

Dominican Republic - Technics - 10-21-2014

I just returned from DR. I was there for 3 days. Very interesting experience. I had some tough logistical challenges, but I still had a great time. I banged 2 in those 3 days, and left a ton of girls fuming for not having time to meet.

Only one girl that I gave go-ahead to meet up did not meet up with me and that was after I cancelled on her twice on the day before. I suppose the little brat was trying to teach me a lesson.

I learned a lot about how things are done in DR. Overall, I LOVED Santo Domingo. The streets and driving were so exciting. I will be back for sure, and for a longer period of time.

Dominican Republic - Technics - 10-21-2014

VP, I've read your posts for a long time, and if you're thinking of going to DR, I would definitely be interested in meeting up there.

Dominican Republic - KsockZ - 10-22-2014

Wow! Would love to see what kinda of talent you were able to pipeline and hash out in such a short time frame.

I've been back in Georgia for about 4 months already. CaribbeanSoul is often down to meet up, and he lives in SD.

Technics,
Salut mon ami ca va?
Glad you had a good time in the DR!
I'm flying to Asia towards the 2nd half of November for the winter and I might have a week or so off before then. Don't tempt me man or I might very well go to the DR at that time!

Has anyone ever celebrated New Years in DR?

My crew and I have decided to descend upon Puerto Rico for a few days after Christmas then bring in the new year in DR. Curious on which city would offer the best partying. Assuming the capital, SD? How about Punta Cana or any of the resort areas? I'm aiming to hit up a hotel party for the countdown if possible. Any info would be appreciated.

Dominican Republic - kavakid - 10-29-2014

I didn't think the new year was over the top in Santo Domingo. It felt like people made less of a big deal about it than in the US. Having said that, I know that Fisto, THC and company went to a cover charge club on the west side (Jetset - its on google maps) and seemed to have a decent time there. Though it wasn't like there were hordes of people swarming outside the club. I would say that there should be a big enough party to be found in some of the bigger clubs in Naco area of SD, or in any of the big clubs in Punta Cana or other resort areas. I imagine calle Venezuela would be a decent party for sure.

Anyhow, I don't consider myself an expert as I didn't really try to line anything up for new years. I just happened to be living in SD at the time and dropped TorontoKid off at Jetset. I think we went to zona colonial and the malecon (waterfront). There was a concert on the malecon in Gazcue as I recall. Lot of people but mostly families and teens.

Dominican Republic - DoomsdayIlluztrious - 10-29-2014

Cool, appreciate the info @kavakid

Dominican Republic - Shackman - 11-03-2014

Living in Santo Domingo. Looking forward to sharing info.

Dominican Republic, Santiago

I spent a long weekend here in Santiago recently and figured I'd write about my experience.

Searched all information available to me prior to booking my trip and actually flying out, decided on visiting Santiago the 2nd largest city rather then Santa Domingo. I decided I wanted to rent an apartment through airbnb rather then use a hotel, less hassle when I bring chicks back. I found a good location on Juan Pablo Duarte about 10 minutes walking to the monumento in one way and 10 minutes to plaza International the other way. Guy was asking $50 a night but I hit him up asked if he would accept $40 and he did, so $160+$19 for the 4 nights at this apartment, sick place, great deal, would book again and recommend to friends.

My first day/night there was kinda fucked, my sleep schedule was all out of whack, I showed up, grabbed some food, changed some money, bought a SIM card and downed a few beers, went to apartment and fell asleep till about 1030-1100pm. I woke with 0 motivation but I mustered up the energy to go out. Had no real direction and headed out towards Matum Casino because I knew there was a club there. I hit a few spots on the way and had some beers at each, no real talent around and everyone seemed so damn poor and ghetto. Got to Casino, was dead and so was the club. Ended up meeting a pro, got her over to my apartment and thought I successfully shored her but after the bang she hit me up for money. I was too tired and annoyed to argue and gave her $40 and kicked her out. Hit the sack and got some much needed rest.

Next day I woke up fresh and ready to get my official flag after the botched attempt the previous night. Hit up several of my pipelined chicks but couldn't get any to meet me for lunch so I set out solo to explore and find something to eat. Turns out I never found anything all that good to eat my whole trip, however the street food at night was pretty good. Yaroa was good but incredibly unhealthy, french fries, some sort of minced or chopped up meat, ketchup, mayo and melted white cheese.

Walked around towards monument and grabbed some fresh coconut juice on the street for 35 pesos (86 cents) met a stunner with a great body and jacked up teeth. She claimed to not have whatsapp but gave me her house number, whatever never ended up calling her. Had a few beers at random spots all while talking to everyone that seemed approachable. Turns out everyone I met was pretty nice and talkative.
After a while a jumped in a carro publico with 4 other people and he took me about 20 minutes away for 20 pesos. That was a weird experience that made me shake my head but turns out that was my go to way to get around. Went over to Plaza International, a spot that I ended up spending a lot of time at over the next several days. Met some cool people in the food court at the coffee shop. While chilling drinking coffee playing on phone/ipad I started hitting up some pipelines. Got a cute young 21 year skinny feminine chica agree to come over and have a few beers. I head back and get there a few minutes before she got there. Moved quickly with her kissed her within minutes and got a BJ pretty easily, but she wouldn't let me bang. Kicked her out after a bit and got ready for the night.

Got suited up and decided to hit a spot forum member ballsdeep recommended to me called Levels, turns out it was less then a 5 minute taxi ride from my place. Got there before 11 and got in before any line. Was just starting to fill up when I got there, nice spot, mix of EDM, Spanish Speaking music, and Hip Hop music. I was standing there bymelf drinking a beer and decided to approach the first girls I saw. Turns out to be 2 larger girls that were super happy that I approached them, I stuck around and had a few drinks and dance with them until ballsdeep finally showed up and we bounced out. He had a vehicle and dropped some serious knowledge down about the DR and traveling in general. We then ended up going to several spots including the club at Casino Matum and this other more ghetto spot called Lovera.
This night at Lovera was meh, but end up having an epic night here the following night. The place is a large club that is kinda hard to approach as there's tons of little groups and tables all around and no common place to hang out. But we found a good spot where people from the left side of the club had to walk by if they wanted to go to bathroom and people on the right side of the club had to walk by us to go to the bar. No real prospectives and went home empty handed and still technically without a flag.

Slept in again and woke up hungry and thirsty, went out exploring again but ended up at Plaza International. I was looking for cigars almost all day to bring home for my dad, friends and coworkers. Had no luck, ended up having to buy some at a super mercado. As I was returning back to my apartment, I heard music at the next plaza over and saw 2 girls having a drink on the edge of the plaza. Approached and sat down and had a few beers, got 1 of their numbers and told them I was leaving but I'd be back in a bit, wanted to shower and change.

Took carro publico back to pad, got ready and suited up. Went back to same spot and they were still hanging out, I joined them again but they were getting ready to leave as she had to work at 630 and it was already 12, I thought I let my flag slip away with her, but it wasn't to be. As they were leaving ballsdeep was showing up, perfect timing! I was feeling good and ready to get my flag and have some drinks.

We hit Levels, drove by Dubai, checked out Matum again, went to this new spot to me called 22. Lots of people at 22, however the only table we could get was in a back corner and would have been a logistical nightmare. We opted to chill by bar which was filled with dudes and no real targets to approach. We walk out a decide to head over to Lovera again. We both take our drinks (cubalibres) and drive off. He can't remember exactly how to get there so he pulls over in the middle of the road to google, meanwhile the police roll up and he asks them how to get there, they fire up the lights and sirens and tell us to follow them. I laugh my ass off and cannot believe the situation, only in the DR! We end up stopping at a different spot and the police back up and I give them daps and 100 pesos and they were super happy.

We go into this spot and it's filled with barrio people, end up meeting a group of girls but they were sorry and we end up bouncing after about 30 minutes. Finally we went back to Lovera and hit up the same bottle neck spot, however this time were able to snag a little table in the perfect spot. Turns out to be some professional baseball player from the Reds there, we met him the previous night and then again this night. Talk to several girls, dance with one, take some shots and drinks with the ball player and he gives us tons of social proof and high value. I grab a chick and start dancing and drinking with her. Ballsdeep instructs me to be more aggressive with her and I start groping and kissing her pretty heavily. We end up partying there at Lovera till early morning before taking a taxi back to my pad to secure the notch and more importantly the flag.

She wakes me up at 10 am and takes off and I go back to sleep till about 3, I wake up with a miserable hangover from all that sugar in the cola from the cubalibres. I go find some food, cigars, and coffee and end up chilling/relaxing all day. I go back to my apartment around 9pm and have the girl who blew me on Saturday come meet me there again. She comes over and I get the notch with very little LMR.

Take my time packing and getting ready the next day before taking an afternoon flight back home, overall good trip. Met up with 2 online girls, made out with one, and bj/banged the other, banged 1 girl from a club and 1 pro that I thought I was going to get for free. Overall santiago Dominican Republic is a fun place to visit, food was shitty, very poor country, but nice people. I recently went to bogota Colombia and prefer there over DR.

TR/DR
4 nights in santiago DR
met up with forum member ballsdeep
partied 3 of 4 nights
2 notches: 1 online, 1 club

Dominican Republic - Global Entry - 12-06-2014

Anyone have an opinion about playing high-roller game in SD.

Here's the issue:
I make enough money that I can blow some on a long weekend in the DR (Dec. 29th to Jan. 2nd). I expect to hit the clubs, but being 44, I don't want to be in the crush of the mob. I'll probably get a table every night. At the same time, while I make a nice living, I'm not lamborghini rich - I'll perhaps hire a driver while I am there though.

How is this going to play down there? Is there anything that I can do to modify the results so as not to create the self-fulfilling prophecy that this might create with girls and money?

Edit: Per recommends, just booked a superior room at th Napo Hotel, its available on Pointshound if you want to get points for it. Same price, virtually, as expedia.

Dominican Republic - InternationPlayboy - 12-06-2014

I've got some data to contribute when I get a little time. Just spent a month in SD.

Dominican Republic - Cr33pin - 12-06-2014

Where should a Gringo with not much Espanol go in the DR for a few months? Preferably with nice beaches and weather in February. I think when I leave Lima I may head to the DR to see what all the fuss is about. I thought about maybe going to Panama or Argentina. My original plan was to go to Colombia but after going to a Colombian hooker bar here in Lima I don't think I could handle Colombia right now.... those bitches are just to fine. I would go to Colombia and never travel again.

Dominican Republic - Americas - 12-06-2014

^ Honestly man, you need to learn some Spanish and the entire region will open up to you.

Dominican Republic - KsockZ - 12-06-2014

i agree, start learning spanish now. get on that pimsleur and you'll be manageable in a few months

Dominican Republic - InternationPlayboy - 12-06-2014

Yep, spanish is huge. Not knowing limits you to about 5-10% of the population if that. You're also setting yourself up to meet girls that will be trying to use you more often than if you knew espanol. It helps in every way. You don't even have to be great. Hell, I'm intermediate at best but I've managed to bang a handful of smoke shows in only spanish.

Dominican Republic - Yeti - 12-06-2014

Learning a language is never really easy, but Spanish is one of the less difficult languages. If you are really motivated and if you study intensively at a language school in Latin America for a couple months, you should be able to get around great and have conversations.

Dominican Republic - InternationPlayboy - 12-06-2014

Hell, just spending 6 months and making an effort you'll learn. I've never really studied. A little Rosetta Stone here and there but I'm usually too impatient. Learn a little base and meet some friends and girls that don't speak English and you'll be having conversations in no time. Me not studying is probably the reason I'm only intermediate though. I'm planning on studying this winter and taking my skills up another level.

Once you get close and comfortable with someone you understand them so much better too and you learn to communicate much better. I find it hilarious how people will talk to me in Spanish and I look at my girl like "wtf did they just say?" And she can "translate" for me even though it's still in Spanish. I just understand her and we can communicate very well. It's very rare she won't be able to explain something to me or get her point across. Even if I don't understand the words I know what she means or she can explain it. You'll also find some people are just much easier to understand than others, at least for me.

Dominican Republic - Cr33pin - 12-06-2014

Solid advice... I'm pretty much in the same boat here in Peru, limited on the girls I can communicate with enough to game.

I have pimsleur and have doulingo and I'm in Peru... but I'm struggling taking the time out to study on my own. The only thing I have down is going to the gym, but in reality Spanish is gonna help me in my travels more then big biceps jaja.

For the past 4 years or so my lifestyle has been to relaxed. I hired someone else to run my business so I basically retired at 30... I'm not gloating it really has hindered my self discipline and drive and motivation for anything. I waste sooo much time its criminal. An I know it and sometimes I watch motivation videos on youtube and get pumped up and write down all these goals an things I am gonna do, an that shit literally last a day. This isn't really the thread for this jaja.... I do need to figure out a way to get my shit together though.

This is very common and I have experience with this.

When you are a beginner in a language but you build a relationship with someone they learn how to speak to you. They use simple words and reinforce what you already understand while speaking clearly and slowly to you.

Some people are better at talking to people who don't speak their language well better. They slow down and speak simply when they know you can't understand everything. Other people don't know how to speak like this and just speak to you like you are a normal person.

A girlfriend is a great way to learn a language but you have to be careful because at a certain point it can be self-defeating if you don't be careful. You will keep reinforcing the limited vocabulary and things you know without pushing yourself.

The only way to get better is to study (I recommend both (smart) independent + formal instruction) plus immerse yourself. You can't neglect grammar either because you will never progress past an intermediate level if you don't learn how to conjugate verbs properly.

Cr33pin, I highly recommend just making it a keystone habit just like the gym. Those two things should be done every morning. I also recommend you make it part of your life. If it's a chore, it become a hassle.

Start watching foreign films in Spanish, listen to audiobooks while you are doing something menial, read some funny stories in Spanish, find a friend or a girl that you met in Peru and talk to her on facebook every day in Spanish. These are things that will help you but aren't hardcore studying. Of course, you need to do both but languages are better learnt through multiple sources.
