I see two Like buttons and two rows of Users who liked the post. I have tried different browsers, the same in all of them. It doesn't let me like the post twice though, they both work as the same button.

When we had the reputations I was able to leave a nice and friendly comment with the reputation.

Can we add the friendly comments to the like's?

Aloha!

Yea its kind of sad also that the rep comments are gone. What if we could get them back but privately, like only you could see them?

Thats what i miss about the rep system too. It was damn help full in that way to build an identity for yourself. Now everybody is the same, noobs and old school playa the like.

Yes, but that building of an identity linked to reputation points inherently leads to predictable problems in forums.
No one is the same. It is quite easy to pick out people who make useful contriubutions, as well as those who are full of shit.
I would suggest some tweaking that would allow more individuality but without making it a contest. Perhaps each member could have a wall of some kind when clicking on their profile...people could leave comments, or even better there could be a "vouched for" section, wear members could confirm they had met in person and leave some sort of comment about the user.

Keyser,
The wall sounds a bit too much like Facebook for me.
"Vouched For" is a good idea though. But that too could be prone to abuse and posturing.

I think "vouched for" could work well. Obviously both parties would have to confirm before it would be posted. In the event people tried to abuse the system, it would probably be clear what was going on.

Is there a way to sort all the posts in a section by most liked?

EDIT!

I changed my mind, didn't notice I could go in and see how many likes had been given/received. Great!

whats with all the inefficient pat's on the back ??
it's so much easier to just read info, digest it into your brain and go about your day.

people are whining about finding quality posts but isn't quality subjective ??

what happens when a majority of people have bad taste ?

If someone comes across info they like they can easily just subscribe to the thread in the forum User control panel.

lets quit being ghey and just do away with all these validation systems.

It's not about validation, although I would say that it's good to know if other players are field testing your posts and it's working.

For me, it's about being able find the best info in the most efficient way possible. There are tons of post here, but unless you are doing specific search, it can be hard to get a sense of which are most important. This is especially true for guys who are just getting started.

I will say that in my search to find the best posts, I've stumbled on some great stuff, but It would be nice to be able to sort them by quality. And, I think that on a forum like this, where cats are going out and testing things, you can trust the like system. Otherwise, the whole forum would have fallen apart a long time ago. So, I'm not worried about quality control.

i guess its a good indicator of whether your posts are really being read or not as well.

Maybe its just me, but NEVER in my life have I used reps or rating systems to determine what threads I read.

If i search for a specific topic I'm going to read all the threads that are relevant to what I'm looking for. It takes me a total of 5 mins (give or take a few) to read everything.

If people come across posts from a member they like, they can subscribe to the threads or add the member to their buddylist. The user control panel has EVERYTHING you need.

...but using rating systems to determine what threads to read...sorry I don't buy into that. Most if not all of us are competent enough to read through a thread in seconds and determine whether or not its worth it.

I'm noticing that lots of guys quote posts approvingly, but don't click the like button, pro and novice posters alike.

Also, I see a lot of quality posts with no likes - so the absence of likes doesn't really indicate an absence of quality.
