Can someone explain to me what the Malecon is?

Is it just a street that runs along the ocean? How long is this street?

Yes, it's a long seaside pass/roadway, some would call it a "pier" depending on what the particular one in question is like.

I can't speak for Christmas exactly, but I went in early December in 2016 and it was great. Here's my writeup: thread-59987.html

Thoughts on Santo Domingo:

- has all the usual third world annoyances; brutal loud traffic, polluted air, security everywhere, lackluster service and food, the feeling people are always out to scam you, etc

- love the girls bodies. Thick and juicy. None of this curveless asian shit. The girls are on a spectrum from African to Spanish looking. Generally the closer to African they are, the poorer they are, like everywhere else in the world. The majority don’t speak English, so you’ll be using google translate a lot if you don’t speak Spanish.

- Tinder is good. I’m a 36 year old white guy and still had lots of matches with young girls. Of course the highest quality is not found on Tinder, but these girls require actually leaving your apartment to find them. Piantini is a good place to look. You’ll see them at the higher end gyms and restaurants.

- Playa Guyacanes and Juan Dolio (next to each other) are nice beaches about an hour away. Haven’t made to Boca Chica. Actually had a girl from Santiago drive to Santo Domingo to stay with me and she drove me out to the beach. A nice change from me doing the providing.

- Gyms: smart fit (several), fitness factory (small and shitty but cheap), body shop in Naco.

- Hotel pools with day passes: Renaissance, Sheraton, Fiesta. Fiesta is the cheapest but a bit further away.

- Breakfast spots: Market in Intercontinental hotel, La Julieta in Piantini, La Dolcerie in Piantini.

- Bars: La Posta, Lincoln Road, Maruja, Adrien Tropical (these were all close to where I lived in Piantini). Didn’t go to a single club. Was too easy too get dates from Tinder.

- if I had more time I’d take road trips to the beaches around La Romana and I’d head up north to check out Samana.

- Areas to stay: as has already been mentioned, Naco and Piantini. I would just make sure to stay north of Rd-3. Crossing that big road is time consuming and a pain in the ass.

- Malecon is nice for a walk, but nothing special. Beaches there are filled with garbage. Made me think what a pristine island this must have been before the third world showed up and turned it into a dump.

Been pipelining for a trip there with DominicanCupid and Tinder. Lots of numbers. A few girls, especially if they live farther from the main area, are asking for transportation money. But they want me to transfer the money like I’m some fool. I just call them a prostitute and block their asses. I get the feeling that online Dominican girls are low-key gold-diggers

Best nightlife spot in Zona Colonial I experienced was Veo Veo. People are dancing the whole night, and girls are hot.

yea would like to know as well, the thing about DR i couldn't find a strip like in panama (casco Viejo) where the nightlife is centered and can walk to multiple locations it seems in DR it is spread out like a place Mamma's in Platini and also zona cologne had small bars from what I read but I could be wrong? zona cologne has some ladies nights, open bar club types and are they back to back ?

I am looking at a trip next month, and am considering DR and Costa Rica. What would you guys recommend? I want to visit both, but game and girls aren't my biggest priority. If I can get them, great, but I am a little overwhelmed by planning something like this so it is not my biggest concern so much as just taking the trip itself.

You're better off in this case something like tripadvisor if gaming isn't your biggest priority

Was in Santo Domingo for a week. I look Dominican and speak Spanish fairly well. Knowing the language will take you a long way but is no guarantee either.

I stayed in an Airbnb on the malecón (the long sidewalk along the ocean, like a mini version of the one in Havana, Cuba) that was walkable to El Conde (PM if you want the info) with all the tourist stuff.

Nightlife: The girls in the bars were strange, acting like Americans: they were either very receptive or very cold and rude. A surprising number were Dominicans from New York who moved back to the DR or vice versa. A fair number know English.

I loved the vibe at Veo Veo in Zona Colonial and was there two nights. The first night, I went there after some Dominican dudes invited me to an EDM party one of them was DJ’ing at in a nearby club (can’t remember its name). I barely remember what kind of music it was at Veo Veo (there’s a dance floor though) because I was with a hot Mexican tourist. God, what a fine, giving ass she had. The other night was deep house music, which I always find weird for dancing with a chick. Great venue.

I went to Onno’s a couple times, but it was mostly a sausagefest. Another bar called 77 Grados is walkable from both of those and was really fun.

I tried Bio Bar but didn’t like how loud and dark it was.

There’s an afterhours place called La Resistencia on the next block from where I stayed in Zona Colonial. A mix of hipster and Latino playboy crowd. Highly recommend. Funny thing was that some cute girl was talking with me there. She said, “I’m 18.” “Cool, what’s your major?” “I’m in high school. Is that a turn off?” Lol, yeah, I ain’t fucking with that.

I also partied at the nightclub Euphoria on Avenida Venezuela across the bridge. I first went to a bar on the corner past the club for cheap beer; I think it starts with a C. Euphoria is a great venue that stays open late, but it was a sausagefest and a beer was more expensive there. One night, I got into a physical scuffle with a Dominican guy who followed me on the street and came up to me talking shit and putting his hand under his shirt. I immediately reacted and slammed him against a car. Luckily, he had nothing on him. Either way, the bouncers at Euphoria were cool with me when I hung with them afterwards.

Overall, I still recommend Veo Veo and 77 Grados in Zona Colonial for the first part of a night and La Resistencia for the after hours.

Daygame: El Conde is decent though not great. Incidentally, I was day drinking there, went up to some cute light-skinned Dominican who looks like Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, and started chatting. Had an instadate at a restaurant, cuddled in the park, and took her home for some action.

One opinion is that Blue Mall is the best for daytime. Eh, it was very empty compared to Agorra, which was crawling with cuties. A cute worker at Blue Mall was telling me the same. Acropolis is a mall down the street from Blue Mall but wasn’t great.

In terms of universities, I went to UTESA at the advice of the forum. Maybe I’m wrong, but I found the school very small and limited in girls.

Online: Got way too many numbers to count. But so many of these girls are broke or scammers. “I’m in Punta Cana this weekend; send me money so I can go home to Santo Domingo to see you.” “Send me some money for a babysitter for my kids so I can see you.” One even wanted money for her mom’s cancer treatment. Right, puta. All of that was before evening meeting. Many also say they’re from Santo Domingo but really live an hour or two from there. One Tinder hoe was a Venezuelan tranny and almost fooled me. Thankfully, I dodged that bullet.

Regardless, I had a couple successful dates but was more impressed with the girls at clubs and bars. My last night, I had a Tinder date with this cute morena with a big booty. She told me she does squats, so I was head over heels for her. Had a passionate night with her and that culo.

Overall, Santo Domingo is a fun place to party and get with chicks but low on cool touristy things to do. Not 100% easy but solid. Fuck, writing this reminded me how great a time I had.

How is the safety currently there? Was it easy to avoid the scammer type girls at night? Can you be out late without any problems in Zona Colonial.

Some cars would drive by and stay stuff, Lowry to sell drugs or girls. I felt fine, especially as the major streets in Zona Colonial are well-lit and have enough people walking around. If you’re unsure, you can take a $2-3 within the zone. As I said, girls really loved or really detested me in these venues, but none came off as scammers. Online dating is where you have to be careful.

I'm planning on heading out there for 3 days in April and am currently in the process of looking for places to stay. I like the fact that Zona Colonial seems to have a lot of things located in a concentrated area, but I do see people in the various SD threads cite Piantini as a place with higher quality and as a place more likely to grab the attention of a girl. As a first-timer to the city (and country) I'm more inclined to stick with La Zona because of the logistics for meeting spots, but if I don't like the places that I see then I'll just flip somewhere to Piantini (or maybe the one spot I liked on Malecón). Perhaps I'm overthinking and it won't matter much since I'll probably be employing mostly daygame and online game anyway.

Went to Santo Domingo last week.

Duration of stay: 5 days
Successful dates: 3
Unsuccessful dates: 2
Method: Tinder

A bit about me: 6.5 in looks (bit older, short but get good feedback if that makes sense), looking to have a successful tinder date per day with a different girl.

Location: Got an airbnb in Piantini. Not bad area but not great either, it's block by block. Next time I'd get a place in Zona Colonial personally just for stuff to do. Blue Mall had more security than actual customers.

Crime: Subjective topic. In general what I saw:
-A lot of people go from their place, to the uber, to where they're going (mall/job/university).
-guy who hooked me up with weed complaining about high crime (lol)
-Most people I met repeated not to take your phone out in public, some even leave it at home entirely. This means you can't wander around using your phone as a map.
-Supermarkets, gas stations have guards with shotguns, so do some private homes. My airbnb had high voltage electrical wire around the complex and "guards"...nice kids in their early 20s.

Used Tinder Gold to pipeline the week before and the problem becomes how to sort all the matches you get. You'll see.
